Selection Process and Criteria

Selection Process: All former Liberty athletes, coaches, athletic directors, community athletic supporters, and administration who supported athletics are eligible for selection. A candidate is selected when 5 out of 7

selection committee members vote for induction. Criteria for selection in each group are listed below.

Eligibility for student-athletes:

1. Accomplishments as a student-athlete at Liberty (all-county, all-conference, all-state, etc.)

2. Graduation from LHS 5 years prior to nomination.

3. Continuing excellence at the collegiate, national, amateur, or professional levels.

Eligibility for coaches/athletic directors:

1. Coaches and athletic directors are immediately eligible upon retirement or the end of their tenure at LHS.

2. Significant contributions made to the overall athletic program including longevity, community improvements, overall record, and championships.

Eligibility for administrators:

1. Administrators are immediately eligible upon their retirement or leaving LHS.

2. Significant contributions or support for the athletic programs at LHS.

Eligibility for community members:

1. Significant contributions to the LHS athletic department.

2. Community members are eligible at any time.

Ralph Chiaramonte: Social Studies Department Chair/Softball Coach

Tom Clowes: Assistant Principal at LHS

Lee Kestler: Support Personnel at LHS/Longtime soccer and softball coach

Marie Miller: Secretary at LHS/ Former cheerleading coach

Walt Owens: Announcer of LHS Sporting events/longtime coach

Joe Reiter: P.E. Teacher/ Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Bruce Damasio: Head tennis Coach for 28 years/Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for 4 years/Announcer of Football for 27 years/ ran table for Basketball for 18 years

Nomination/selection Process: Candidates must be nominated by March 1^st for the induction year. Forms can be completed on-line at www.libertyathletics.com or forms can be picked up in the main office at LHS. Forms that are not completed on-line must be turned in to Ed DeVincent. The committee will meet in March and the inductees will be announced by April 1^st.

· All nominees who are rejected will not be considered in the following years.

· All nominees who do not get the necessary five votes for nomination will be kept for the following five years.
