Liberty athletes quality for State Indoor Track & Field meet
The LHS Indoor Track and Field team competed at the 2A West Regional meet at Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, February 2, where several Liberty athletes qualified for the upcoming State Meet. Liberty results are provided below, and more detailed results are available at this Carroll County Times article.
Congratulations to the following athletes who qualified for the State Meet at Saturday’s 2A West Regional Meet (State Meet qualifiers have to finish in the top 4 of their event or meet the state qualifying time/distance/height standard).
The Regional Champion girls 4 x 800 meter relay team of Sammie Spargo, Jenna Zietowski, Grace Maciejewski and Haley Steier.
The girls 4 x 200 meter relay team of Yani Hawthorne, Sydney Scher, Monica Kuether and Maia Burger qualified by finishing in 3rd place.
Jake Beaumier qualified by meeting the time standard and finished 8th in the 800 meters.
Dan Saxon and Woodrow Kashima qualified by meeting the time standard and finished 7th and 8th respectively in the 3200 meters.
The boys 4 x 800 meter relay team of Woodrow Kashima, Jake Beaumier, Gavin Edson and Dan Saxon qualified by finishing in 3rd place.
Darren Rodoff and Mike Broom qualified in the pole vault by meeting the height standard and finished 5th and 6th respectively.
Mason Breeze qualified in the shot put by finishing in third place.
Other point scorers included:
Yani Hawthorne 7th in the 55 meters.
Mai Burger 7th in the 300 meters.
Sydney Scher 7th in the 500 meters.
Sammie Spargo 6th in the 55 meter hurdles.
Dan Saxon and Woodrow Kashima 7th and 8th respectively in the 1600 meters.
The boys 4 x 200 meter relay team of Tyler Apellaniz, Ethan Arndt, Thomas Ball and Shawn Putnam finish 8th.
The boys 4 x 400 meter relay team of Tyler Apellaniz, Ethan Arndt, Darren Rodoff and Luke Petenbrink finished 8th.
Ahmahn Cabaniss finished 5th in the shot put.
